A Christmas Stroll

This is the last in my “Mallorca Christmas” trilogy. I hope you have enjoyed my suggestions about how to get a bit of fresh air and sunshine over Christmas.
This last post takes us to Aucanada where we can enjoy a beautiful view of the Bay of Alcudia as we stroll along the beach.
If you would prefer to read first my other two Christmas outings, read first about Formentor and next about Puig de Maria.
On my parents’ last day in Mallorca it was still bright and sunny and as Toni was still ill we decided to go just the three of us somewhere not too far away where we could enjoy beautiful scenery and stroll along the beach.
So we went to Aucanada and stayed there for about 3 hours. We parked just at the top of the hill at the entrance to Aucanada and we walked down to the sea front and along the access path that runs parallel to the sea until we got to the shingle beach.
The beach is made up of pebbles and seaweed regurgitated from the sea and piled up in comfy dunes that protect the beach and make great spongy places to lay your towel in the summer. It is a very popular place with the locals at the weekend as there are trees providing shade and there is plenty of space near the car park to set up elaborate barbecues.
However, on this day we had the beach almost to ourselves. We walked right to the end where the islet with the lighthouse is and we continued around the rough coastline enjoying the views.
A day in Aucanada is a perfect day out and I hope that you get to visit Aucanada. Check out the photos from the day in the slide show below.
Make a day of it. My absolute favourite place to eat in Aucanada is at the Golf Club: they have an amazing terrace with a view of the lighthouse and the food is very good. They offer a great value set menu at lunch time which includes wine, water, starter, main course and dessert for 20€.
Maybe you want to stay for longer in Aucanada. I recommend two places: Hotel President, four star luxurious hotel complete with spa, indoor and outdoor pool, amazing views and all-inclusive board; and Aucanada Apartments, which have a great location and a separate self-catering block making you feel as though you are in your ow private villa.
Have you been to Aucanada? What did you think? Feel free to take over the comments…
