Boat From Alcudia to Cala Ratjada Market

Last Saturday I was lucky enough to join a brand new boat trip from Alcudia to Cala Ratjada Market.

This new idea comes from Barcos Brisa, based in Alcudia, who offer many boat tours all around the dramatic north coast of Mallorca.

In my work at No Frills Excursions, I sell these boat trips to visitors to Alcudia, and they are very popular. So it made sense for me to go and check out the new trip for myself.

Brisa has decided to offer something new to visitors to Alcudia every Saturday, the day of Cala Ratjada’s market; and as this month’s Destination of the Month here at inmyshoestravel is No Frills Excursions in Mallorca, and as it was my day off anyway, I decided to check out this brand new boat trip from Alcudia…

Alcudia Port

The Alcudia – Cala Ratjada Market Boat Trip

I met my good friend and fellow photographer, Marchela Dimitrova in the Port of Alcudia with her camera already strapped around her neck, enough baggage to force me to ask if she thought she was going on a week long Mediterranean cruise, and two eight year old girls in tow.

As it was the first time that this particular boat trip was operating, it was not very busy and we were lucky enough to have nearly all the boat to ourselves.

It was a beautiful, clear and sunny day as we pulled out of the Port of Alcudia and set off around the bay of Alcudia.

We were soon joined by other passengers who got on at the other piers around Alcudia Bay, including our friend and other fellow photographer, Benjamin Grimley and his wife Sarah.

And then we left the bay of Alcudia behind us and started the route towards Cala Ratjada, passing Cap Farrutx, Cala Mesquida and other beautiful dramatic Mediterranean coastline.

It was a smooth ride which we enjoyed very much and we stopped for 20 minutes for a swim too, so that we were able to jump off the boat and into the crystal clear water below for a very refreshing cool-off.

When we reached Cala Ratjada we disembarked and walked around the pretty harbour and into town and we headed for the market. The market was busy and bustling but was pleasant.

After an hour and a half of strolling around and a bit of bartering, we headed back to the boat ready for the scenic journey back to Puerto Alcudia.

The whole trip lasted five hours, including the time at the market, and was a great way to spend our day off. I will be recommending the trip to clients and I’m confident that it will be popular.
