I’m very pleased to announce that we did see wild elephants at Hurulu Eco Park in Sri Lanka! We had been in Sri Lanka for a grand total of twenty hours and so far we had: stayed with a local family in Colombo, conquered Colombo Fort Station, travelled on a train through the lush Sri Lankan […]
I’m not 100% sure that it was the geckos. But I am pretty sure. And I’m not 100% sure that they actually ate it. But I didn’t hear the shower go on in the middle of the night so I don’t think they were using it.
Guess what! We saw wild dolphins! It was at the end of our boat trip to Rinca and Komodo Islands. It was the perfect end to the perfect cruise. As you know, we had arranged with a local boat owner to take us from Labuan Bajo.
As part of our cruise from Labuan Bajo we visited Komodo Island. The visit to Komodo Island was very much the same as our visit to Rinca Island had been the day before: we moored at the island, we went to the visitor centre and organised a ranger to go with us and then we […]
We were finally setting off on quite an adventure to hopefully catch a glimpse of the Komodo Dragons, found in the wild only in Komodo National Park in Indonesia. We were in Labuan Bajo on Flores Island and the day before we had contracted a boat and a local crew to take just me and […]
Yes, of course we did make the obligatory visit to Monkey Forest while we were in Ubud in Bali. The area commonly known as Monkey Forest is a large wooded park in Ubud with several ruined temples dating from the 1300s. But most people go to see the monkeys.
I’ve had my concerns about the cramped conditions that the beautiful dolphins are kept in at Marineland Mallorca for some years. Now it seems those concerns have finally been confirmed.
More than Birdwatching in Mondragó, I guess the title should really be Bird-counting in Mondragó. Yes, I spent last Saturday birdwatching (or counting) in the natural park of Mondragó in Mallorca with our ‘Winter Activities‘. We were participating in the official bird count that takes place all over Spain
My time in Kalimantan was not all about orang-utans. The list of animals that we saw in the rainforest reads like something out of The Jungle Book. Obviously, when you go to one of the two only islands in the world where orang-utans can be found, you expect to encounter the odd orang-utan and so the […]
It’s time we learnt a little about these very special creatures in the Borneo Rainforest, that we are observing at the moment here on the blog. Yesterday we were wooed by all the cute photos of hairy mammals swinging from tree to tree and throwing bananas at each other.
